The new Medical Infusion Unit at Monash Medical Centre is now operational and has welcomed their first patients.
“We are delighted to deliver this space for our patients and community,” said Nurse Manager Carolyn Greely.
“We have planned this extensively, and construction has continued throughout pandemic response, so it is fantastic to see it all come to fruition today.”
Vivian was one of the first patients seen in the new space.
“The new unit is so nice, bright, and new!” Vivian said. “It’s much more spacious and comfortable.”
The new MIU is located opposite the pharmacy on Level 2 of Monash Medical Centre. It brings together the previous Medical Therapy Unit, as well as chairs from the Infusion Centre located on Level 5. Two haemotology-oncology treatment chairs have also been included in the new MIU.
Margaret Harley, Director of Clinical Operations for Specialty Medicine, said the new is a major development for patients.
“Our patients are a tight-knit community who come in regularly. They know us and they know each other, and we’re very pleased that this new MIU will better meet their clinical and social needs.”
The new MIU has improved privacy and is a more flexible space for treating a broad cohort of patients.
