Flu is back – meet Flick!

Flu season is here once again and so is our free flu vaccination program. This year, Flick the Flu will be asking you to come along and get your free flu shot. Flu vaccination is a quick and easy way of protecting ourselves and each other from a deadly infection.

Last year, we saw low flu numbers due to improved hand hygiene, mask-wearing and people staying at home. However, with low community transmission, restrictions have eased. We must continue to take all measures to protect ourselves from illness.

In the coming weeks, Flick will be helping Infection Prevention roll out our annual flu vaccination program. The program will run as it has in previous years with vaccination days at sites, mobile immunisers visiting wards and after-hours vaccination rounds. No bookings are required.

This year you must bring your Medicare number with you, as record of vaccination must be entered into the Australian Immunisation Register. You must also remember to leave two weeks on either side of your COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.

Last year, we achieved the highest flu vaccination rate at Monash Health, and we are aiming to surpass that this year. As Monash Health employee, you must either receive the vaccine, declare if you’ve had it elsewhere or declare if you are not participating. If you’ve already had your flu vaccination outside of Monash Health, remember to declare through the Flu Vaccination Declaration Portal.

Keep an eye out for Flick, who will have more information about when and where you can get vaccinated against the flu this year.
