Extended COVID-19 emergency workforce – including Allied Health employees and students

Recent announcements, and the latest outbreak, have seen increased demand for COVID-19 vaccination, testing and contact tracing across Victoria. As vaccine supply is also becoming more available, we are looking to expand our SEPHU vaccination capacity to enable the complete vaccination of our community as quickly as possible.

Many Monash Health employees and students are already supporting the program under emergency orders. The professional groups able to work under these emergency orders are likely to be extended soon to also include:

  • Allied Health
  • Dental and Oral Health
  • Medical/Science Laboratories; and
  • Further student groups

In preparation for these extensions, we’re seeking your help for the South East Public Health Unit (SEPHU) vaccination, testing, or contact tracing programs. There are opportunities to be immunisers, a team member who draws the vaccine up ready for injection, a concierge, COVID-19 testing or administrative role.

Many shifts are available at SEPHU COVID-19 vaccination clinics, COVID-19 testing clinics and our contact tracing centre.

With community lockdown currently in place, we are aware several areas have reduced service capacity, and there may be some latent workforce availability at this time. Equally, part-time employees may be in a position to perform additional shifts as part of the SEPHU programs.

Short term or longer-term opportunities are available with practical and online training provided.

Please discuss any potential shifts you can accept with your manager and then fill in the ShiftMatch registration form to be notified of suitable shifts as they arise.

As a reminder, concierge roles are open to employees and students at any year level and have an immediate start without CVMS training.

Admin roles are open to employees and students at any year level and require computer skills and completion of the CVMS training via Latte.

Employees and students who are authorised to prepare or administer vaccines can complete the following modules:

  1. Commonwealth Government COVID-19 Vaccination Training Modules.
  2. Victorian Government COVID-19 Vaccination e-Learning Modules.
  3. CVMS Orientation eLearning

Emergency immunisers who do not have medication administration and management in their scope of practice will be required to undertake a practical training program (details will be advised) in addition to the state and commonwealth training packages.

This is an excellent opportunity to deliver exceptional care everywhere, protect our community and make a difference in getting Victorians back to a more familiar way of life.

Please note the registration via ShiftMatch is for internal applicants only. Non-Monash Health employees can apply for roles via our Monash Health Careers Page.
