Extended COVID-19 emergency workforce – including Allied Health employees and students

As of Wednesday 1 September 2021, the Victorian Government amended Public Health Emergency Orders (PHEOs) which authorised an expansion of the workforce classes that are eligible to support COVID-19 vaccination preparation and delivery.

As more vaccine supply becomes available, we continue to expand our workforce to meet this demand. Therefore, we are looking to expand our SEPHU Central Workforce roles in vaccination preparation and administration, screening and contact tracing to support our community as quickly as possible.

Many Monash Health employees and students are already supporting the program under these PHEOs. The new classes now able to work under these emergency orders, as part of the authorised surge workforce, include:

  • Dental and oral health workforce
  • Allied health workforce
  • Pharmacy workforce
  • Aboriginal Health Practitioner
  • Pathology workforce
  • Certain healthcare students
  • Laboratory science, research and technician workforce
  • Medical laboratory science and pharmacy students, and dental assistants

Training is required and will be provided to you at no cost. It will include online and practical training and competency assessment by an authorised assessor, and on the job orientation and induction. SEPHU Central Workforce will support coordination of this training and rostering.

Subject to PHEOs and completion of required training, there are opportunities to work at one of SEPHU’s many sites with various role opportunities as; a team member who prepares vaccine, administers vaccine, COVID-19 screening, and contact tracing.
