MOVE, Monash Health’s Organisation-wide Virtual Exercise program

From today, Monday 11 October, Monash Health will be running free online gym classes for all employees.

It is easy to fall into a sedentary state, particularly if you have experienced a shift in routine or work environment. Keeping active is a great way of improving both your physical and mental health. There are so many ways of getting active, but sometimes structured classes can help us establish a routine again.

Classes will run from Monday to Friday, with times varying throughout the day. You can download the schedule here. You can access the classes through the links on the Monash Health COVID-19 website.

The classes will focus on three main workouts:

Body Weight Strength & Fitness

This class is designed to increase your heart rate, burn some calories, and leave you feeling energised. Exercises will involve on the spot moves, as well as your own bodyweight to create resistance.

Mat Pilates & Core Strength

You will be taken through a floor-based session to help you strengthen your abdominal, lower back and hip muscles.

Yoga/Stretch and Relax

This class is designed to help you relax, unwind and alleviate any stiff muscles or aches you may be experiencing by stretching and breathing correctly.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the scheduled class, they’ll be recorded so you can work out when it’s convenient for you.

The classes will be run by Healthwise Fitness, who operate gyms on Monash Health sites. For more information about the MOVE program, you can visit the Monash Health COVID-19 website.
