The Victorian Government has authorised a once-off payment to eligible employees and contractors who have undertaken training to support the COVID-19 vaccination program. The Training Payment to the employee is a payment of six (6) hours of pay at the person’s usual base ordinary rate of pay.
It’s been recognised that many health professionals have undertaken additional and specific training so that they could play key roles in providing COVID-19 vaccinations. This additional and specific training included the on-line COVID-19 vaccination training modules that were established and required by the Commonwealth Government under its COVID-19 Vaccination Training Program (both the ‘Core’ and the relevant ‘Additional’ modules) and those established and required by the Victorian Government under its Victorian COVID-19 eLearning Competency and its Victorian Supplementary eLearning packages.
It’s understood that many health professionals were not able to undertake the online training requirements during paid work time. Therefore, the Victorian Government has approved a once-off Training Payment of 6 hours ordinary pay for persons who successfully undertook and completed those on-line modules on their own time and meet the eligibility criteria below.
You are an employee of Monash Health or Torrens Health/YNA and are on the ShiftMatch system; and
- have registered with a Victorian public hospital/health service or Torrens Health to participate in the Victorian Government’s COVID-19 vaccination program; and
- are authorised via the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981(Vic), the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 2017, Secretary Approval or a Public Health Emergency Order to obtain, possess and administer the COVID-19 vaccine; and
- have successfully completed the required Commonwealth Government and Victorian Government online training modules as outlined in the Victorian COVID-19 Vaccination Guidelines) on their own time;
- and are available within SEPHU to prepare, possess and/or administer COVID-19 vaccinations.
Eligible persons applying for the COVID-19 Vaccination Training Payment should be aware that the payment represents taxable earnings. PAYG instalments may be deducted by the employer making the payment to the eligible person – otherwise this will be the responsibility of the eligible person.

Any later or following submissions will be processed on a fortnightly basis in-line with Monash Health payroll cycles.
