Pandemic Code Brown – In effect from midday, Wednesday 19 January 2022
I write to advise that Monash Health has now enacted our Pandemic Code Brown plan, effective midday, Wednesday 19 January 2022.
A co-ordinated Pandemic Code Brown is being implemented across all public metropolitan and major regional hospitals, putting in place a formal emergency management structure to make the best use of hospital resources in the face of rising hospitalisations and staff shortages associated with COVID-19.
This Code Brown enables us to best use our emergency response for those with the greatest need. It also supports existing decisions we have taken in response to the pandemic, and sends a strong message to our community that we are under pressure.
The Code Brown is expected to be in place for 4-6 weeks.
Our Code Brown Pandemic Response will be managed through our Tier structure that has served us well over the past two years, and communicated through our Daily Operating Rhythm structure, Chief Executive Updates, COVID-19 website, and Employee Forums.
We will continue to consult with you to ensure we address workforce needs or shortages as they arise.
Thank you. Your professionalism, resilience and kindness has meant that we have been able to provide the very best service and care that we can under some very challenging circumstances.
The weeks ahead will be challenging, but we will support each other, and together we will continue to care for our community at a time when it has never been more important.
Thank you.
