Severe weather impacts

We are currently experiencing severe weather across the State with heavy rain, wind gusts and hail.

There are a number of impacts across our sites, most noticeably water damage and flooding. Importantly, patient safety has not been compromised and the operational impact is being managed. 

These are the issues as we currently understand them:

Monash Medical Centre

  • Some leaking in the corridor between Emergency Department and Monash Children’s Hospital; the Medical Infusion Unit; exit to P Block; 32 West; Stepping Stones; and Morgue entrance.
  • Some flooding in lower level public car park.

Dandenong

  • Significant water damage in North 3.
  • Six patients have been relocated.
  • Water damage to Unit 1.
  • Minor water damage in AAU.

Casey

  • Minor leaking in corridors. Now rectified.

Moorabbin

  • Significant water damage and flooding in Level 2 Theatre Reception area and change rooms.
  • Some water damage in Level 1.

Kingston

  • Superficial water damage.

Community

  • Water damage at SECASA, 867 Centre Road.
  • Minor leaking at other sites.

Vaccination and Screening Clinics

  • Sandown Vaccination Clinic. Some water damage. A small number of vaccination appointments rescheduled.

What to do if you notice storm damage

Our Engineering teams are on site assessing and addressing damage.  If you see damage that you believe presents a safety risk, please contact your on-site Engineering team.

Please take extra care when driving, and avoid parking your vehicle under trees.

We have robust contingency plans in place for situations like this and they are currently being enacted. I will provide further updates as information becomes available.
