Monash Health’s FaPMI (Families Where a Parent has a Mental Illness) coordinators and Mental Health CFCS (Consumer, Family Carer Services) were delighted to resume their annual Family Fun Day, held for families connected to Monash Health’s Mental Health Program.
Held at Myuna Farm in Doveton recently, families, FaPMI coordinators and CFCS staff spent the day exploring the farm, feeding the animals, and riding ponies and trains. Monash Health FaPMI and CFCS provided lunch and snacks, and ran games and competitions for family members of all ages. FaPMI and CFCS acknowledge and express gratitude for Tandem funding that helped support the day.
FaPMI is integral in providing education, training, resources and consultation support to the mental health workforce who support families where a parent has a mental illness. Monash Health’s Mental Health Program fulfills the role of FaPMI coordinator for the LGAs of Bayside, Kingston, Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia, to reduce the impact of parental mental illness on families.
Events like the annual Family Fun Day help families with similar experiences to connect, and provide the opportunity for positive, shared experiences.
Please reach out to your local FaPMI coordinators if you would like more information about the great work they are doing in the mental health community.
