Guidance released on the Winter Retention and Surge Payment

As you’re aware, the Victorian Government has announced new measures to support the healthcare workforce and recognise the care you provide for our community over Winter. We’ve now received more detail from the Department of Health about how these measures will be administered.

Importantly, all clinical and non-clinical staff employed by the Victorian public health system who meet the eligibility criteria will receive a payment of up to $3,000. The payment will be split across two payment periods between 15 August and 30 September and will be subject to tax.

Broadly speaking, the $3,000 maximum payment will be prorated if you work part-time or casual hours. It will also be prorated if you are not employed by the Victorian health system for the full eligibility period from 1 July until 30 September 2022.

Employees on paid leave will be eligible for the payment.

In addition to the winter surge payment, the Government also announced free meals for Employees who work night shifts or double shifts. This program will supplement meals we already provide as part of our Be Safe Be Well program. We will share details on the intranet and through managers later this week.

Visit our Winter Retention and Surge Payment webpage for full eligibility criteria and detailed FAQs.
