This year’s Annual Report by the Equity and Inclusion Committee highlights that we are stronger together, and our diversity is our strength.
We celebrate many cultures, we speak countless languages, and we come from over 100 countries. More than 3,600 Monash Health employees were born overseas.
We are proud of our diverse workplace, and we continue to foster an environment that values, respects and includes all peoples.
Here are some of the ways we strive for equity and inclusion at Monash Health.
- We came together to commemorate National Sorry Day and to celebrate NAIDOC Week. We reaffirm our commitment to providing a supportive, respectful and culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia, we stood in solidarity alongside our LGBTI+ community by raising the Progressive Pride flag over Monash Medical Centre.
- To make sure Monash Health continues to be accessible to people of all abilities, we emphasise consultation in our decision-making process. We also actively seek consumers who have lived experience of Monash Health’s services as a patient with a disability for our Disability Consumer Advisory Group
- Over the last few years, we have made significant progress in gender equality and further progress requires enduring attention and sustained action. Soon, we are launching our first Gender Equality Action Plan to ensure we provide opportunities to enable equal outcomes for individuals regardless of their gender identities by 2025.
Going forward, we maintain the vision of creating an inclusive, fair and equitable environment for all our patients, employees, visitors and carers.
