Hospitals play an integral role in keeping our community healthy and safe – but that wouldn’t be possible without constant cleaning and sanitisation.
Yesterday was Thank Your Cleaner Day, and we’d like to extend our gratitude to all our Patient Services Assistants and Environmental Services Assistants who are the reason we are able to provide the great care we do to our patients in safe, clean facilities every day.
Dandenong Hospital Environmental Services Assistant Ketan Shah has only been in his role for six months but has already made a wonderful impact on our staff and patients.
“Patients often tell me I’m doing a good job, and that makes me feel really appreciated,” he said.
Ketan is responsible for cleaning all the public areas at Dandenong Hospital – from wiping down surfaces to steam cleaning carpets.
“My favourite part about my job is helping the patients and providing them with a good, clean environment so they feel safe and at home,” he said.
The environmental services assistant prides himself on his good eye for detail and ability to find things easily, which helps him every day in his job.
“Without cleaners the whole hospital stops, and people won’t want to come again if the place is dirty,” Ketan said.
