Cardiac care wins global recognition

Monash Health’s cardiology program has again received global recognition, ranking in the top 100 in Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialised Hospitals 2023.

Coming in at number 84, Monash Health was one of only two Australian hospitals to make the Top 100.

“This is an exciting time for all of us at Monash Health as we prepared to open the Victorian Heart Hospital,” said Professor Stephen Nicholls, Program Director of the Victorian Heart Hospital.

“The Newsweek announcement is a wonderful recognition of the cardiac team’s amazing talent and exceptional care,” he said.

“Momentum is continuing to build, and we know that once the Victorian Heart Hospital opens we can take cardiac care in Australia to the next level.”

The Newsweek list ranks hospitals in 11 specialities, including cardiology, oncology and neurology,   in partnership with global market research and consumer data firm Statista Inc.

Monash Health’s $577 million Victorian Heart Hospital, located at Monash University in Clayton, is set to open in February. It will be Australia’s first specialist cardiac hospital, and will integrate hospital and clinical care with world-leading research and education.

The hospital will be available to all Victorians in need of critical, potentially life-saving cardiac treatment.
