Kingston Centre is currently a ‘silent hospital’ with no overhead announcements. However, on Monday 19 December we’ll be introducing overhead announcements for Code Blue (clinical emergencies).
This change is being introduced following a recommendation from the Monash Health Deteriorating Patient Committee and aligns Kingston Centre with other Monash Health sites.
The current emergency paging system will remain in place, with the introduction of overhead announcements as the primary alert for Code Blue emergencies. This additional level of notification will reduce the risk of delays to the emergency response and subsequent treatment.
Bedside clinical staff will continue to make notifications by calling 22 22 and the contact centre will activate the overhead Code Blue notification. All other procedures relating to emergency code responses will also remain unchanged.
