Monday, 6 March is Hospitality Workers in Healthcare Day.
Our hospitality support services employees work tirelessly to provide nutritional, tasty meals that meet a range of preferences, dietary requirements and cultural needs. They also maintain clean, fresh and hygienic environments and offer timely delivery of essential laundry services. Each day their work forms a vital part of our exceptional experience to our patients, residents and employees.
Hospitality Workers in HealthCare Day recognises our employees’ essential contribution in the often demanding clinical support environment. It’s a day to say ‘Thank you’ for your fabulous and critical work.
For Food Services Assistant Prabjhot Headland, Monash Health has been a welcoming and supportive environment. She started working at the Kingston Centre in 2017 and came to Casey Hospital in 2018.
“I feel everybody works together. We have good teamwork. I love to work here.
“We have a lot of training and a very good supervisor. We can talk and communicate well.”
Samantha Battistello the Food Services Supervisor at Casey Hospital attributes the iCARE values and cultural diversity of the workforce and patients to moulding a great working culture.
“The customer’s the patient. And when you deal with patients you have to consider their different cultural backgrounds.
“We also have a lot of cultural diversity in the Food Services team.”
In Samantha’s case, she has served a variety of roles over her 27 years working at Monash Health, including clinical and administration areas.
“I’ve been in MH for 27 years. I started off with Kingston as a dental nurse. After 3 years, I moved to Dandenong as a Support Services employee. I did that for 10-11 years and worked my way up to a Food Services Supervisor.
“And then I went to Moorabbin for 12 months on secondment. After that I went back to Dandenong and then applied for the role of Food Services Supervisor for Casey Hospital as well.
“I think at Monash, there’s a big variety so you can always work your way up into different roles or try different things.”
Please join us and take a moment to celebrate and share our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of all our hospitality employees in Monash Health hospitals and residential aged care.
