Dr Paul Yeh receives a Cancer Council of Victoria grant-in-aid
Haematologist Dr Paul Yeh received a Cancer Council of Victoria (CCV) grant-in-aid awarded to him and his team of nearly $300,000. As a clinician-scientist working at Monash Health and Head of the Blood Cancer Biomarkers Laboratory, he is grateful for the support of CCV and is excited at the prospect of providing a better understanding of T-cell lymphomas. This research builds upon a successful clinical trial led by co-investigator Prof Jake Shortt that was recently completed at Monash Health. Additionally, the research will be conducted in collaboration with lead bioinformatician Dr Dineika Chandrananda at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
“This research aims to discover specific cancer signatures from a non-invasive blood test that can be used to monitor disease in a rare cancer called peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL). With this information, we aim to discover new biomarkers of response and resistance to therapy so we can inform the next phase of cancer therapeutic research,” said Dr Yeh.
