Join us at 2pm today as we launch our Disability Strategy and Action Plan. We will hear from Chris Varney, Chair of the Victorian Disability Advisory Council, who was instrumental in shaping the State’s disability plan, Inclusive Victoria.
We’ll also hear from a panel of our employees and consumer advisors with different experiences of disability, as they share their lived experience, and the elements of the plan that will provide meaningful change for them.
The Disability Strategy and Action Plan 2023 – 2027 has been developed in close consultation with our community, capturing feedback from our patients, employees, volunteers with a disability, and their families and carers. We understand that people with disability are experts in their care, and our commitment to their input embodies our guiding motto “nothing about us, without us”.
The release of this strategy and plan supports our vision of inclusive, accessible, and respectful healthcare and employment for everyone, and the four pillars of our plan – Inclusion, Accessibility, Opportunity and Innovation – will guide our actions to realise this vision.
As part of our commitment to accessibility, multiple versions of the Disability Strategy and Action Plan 2023 – 2027 will be released, such as Easy Read and Auslan, to ensure that our vision and commitment is widely accessible to everyone in our community.
The plan will drive our developmental journey in providing accessible healthcare, inclusive employment, and disability-confident managers and employees. We will uphold the rights of people with disability and celebrate with pride the diversity within this community.
Join us today to hear how our plan will ensure we create meaningful change in healthcare access and employment, to promote an inclusive and respectful environment for all.
