Collaborating to optimise our Allied health assistant workforce

Monash Health is proud to promote the Victorian Allied Health Assistant Workforce Recommendations and Resources that are now available on the Victorian Department of Health webpage.

Funded by the Department of Health and completed in collaboration with Monash Health (WISER unit), the recommendations and resources have been designed to support workplaces to optimally utilise and develop Allied health assistant workforces.

The project team, comprising of two Allied health professionals and one Allied health assistant, has undergone an extensive consultation with research methodology to deliver recommendations and resources that meet the needs of the Victorian health, aged care and disability sectors.

The 18 recommendations cover five key areas, each with resources to support implementation.

“We’ve been delighted to highlight the value of Allied health assistants and the importance of improving utilisation of this workforce at multiple national and international conferences,” says Lucy Whelan, Project Manager and WISER Manager.

This work further solidifies Monash Health as an employer of choice for Allied health assistants, implementing the recommendations both internally, and having the opportunity to coach six metropolitan and regional health networks, to optimise the Allied health assistant workforce throughout 2023.
