The Department of Health has advised that it will consolidate the purchasing and supply chain (logistics) of medical consumables of all public health services to HealthShare Victoria (HSV), to further realise the benefits of a centralised supply chain for Victorian health services.
Following the successful transition of Melbourne Health logistics, Monash Health has been identified as the next health service to transition to HSV operations during 2024.
This will impact our supply chain (logistics) function and the Scoresby Warehouse. We are working with the Department of Health and HealthShare Victoria to understand the impact and to begin due diligence activities to ensure the change is managed safely.
We understand that change can be unsettling, particularly in the early stages, when all the details are not yet known. We are fully committed to supporting our teams through this transition and our priority is the safety of our supply chain to support safe and high-quality care, and those people who work within it.
There will be no immediate changes to current processes or day-to-day roles and responsibilities. The Department has directed the transition to occur in the middle of 2024.
We understand that our people may have concerns about job security and are committed to sharing information with the team as it becomes available. To enable this, we are working closely with HSV to ensure a clear understanding of roles and to minimise disruption. Any changes will be managed in line with the relevant Enterprise Agreement and in consultation with unions.
We will place a significant focus on ensuring that the quality and continuity of services we provide will not be compromised during this transition. We value the dedication and hard work undertaken by the team and look forward to navigating this change together. Relevant managers and our People and Culture team are available to answer any questions and to provide support.
We also encourage affected employees to make use of Monash Health’s extensive support should they need them. These include our 24/7 Employee Assistance Program – a confidential short-term counselling and coaching service. The EAP is available for all Monash Health employees, their partners, immediate family members and volunteers. Phone: 1300 687 327.
