National Reconciliation Week Welcome to Country

Yesterday, we came together for a virtual event to commemorate National Reconciliation Week.

Aunty Georgina Nicholson, Wurundjeri Elder, performed the Welcome to Country, a traditional Aboriginal protocol, to welcome guests and neighbours to Country and demonstrate respect for Aboriginal people and their connection to Country.

Aunty Georgina also provided insight into the importance of reconciliation. It is more than a word; reconciliation takes action and requires impact.

We all have an essential role in acknowledging the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and survivors of the Stolen Generation.

Over the next week, we’re hosting several online events for the team at Monash Health to continue learning how we can better support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
