On Friday 24 May, the team at Ward 44 Monash Medical Centre came together for lunch to acknowledge and celebrate the retirement of Zofia Czarny after her 40 years of service to Monash Health.
Zofia migrated from Poland in 1970 and joined Queen Victoria Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She worked there for 4 years, prior to Monash Medical Centre being built, and then transferred to Moorabbin Hospital where she worked for 17 years. Medical services were then transferred to Monash Medical Centre, and Zofia moved too. For the past 23 years, she has spent time at Ward 44 South and the recently reconfigured Ward 44.
Zofia has been a involved in many changes over the years, and has developed lifelong friendships during her time at Monash Health.
“There have been many good times” Zofia shared.
Her generosity and kindness is renown by those she has worked with, and many have been gifted the most beautiful hand crocheted blankets, slippers and coat hangers that are made with love by her.
Thank you Zofia for 40 wonderful years of caring for our patients, families and your colleagues across Monash Health, you will be sorely missed.
We wish her all the very best for retirement.
