We partnered with the Hudson Institute of Medical Research throughout May to deliver over 1,000 free blood pressure checks at Monash Medical Centre as part of May Measurement Month.
Over 40 volunteers, including medical students and researchers, provided blood pressure checks for patients, their families, members of the community and Monash Health and Hudson Institute employees.
The checks identified hypertension in participants on a daily basis, and also found participants who did not have optimally controlled blood pressure despite taking medications.
High blood pressure is the number one contributing risk factor for global death and can cause strokes, heart attacks and other cardiovascular complications.
For most people, there are no warning signs for high blood pressure, which is why it’s so important to get it checked regularly.
Thank you to our volunteers for providing the checks and raising awareness about the dangers of high blood pressure.
