Seven year old James has been coming to Monash Children’s Hospital for the past five years due to a variety of health challenges after being born with Down’s Syndrome.
James spends a lot of time at Monash Children’s, and has become more aware of what to expect when he comes to hospital, which can be a distressing experience.
James’ mum Kimberly explains that a calm room in the new paediatric emergency department would provide a safe space for patients like James where they can be more comfortable and feel less anxious.
The fourth annual Dandelion Wishes Gala will support the new paediatric emergency department at Monash Children’s Hospital funded by the Victorian Government.
The funds raised will allow us to provide additional equipment to create three specialised low-stimulation environments within the ED, including a calm room and two procedure rooms, which will include appropriate lighting, soft seating, music and visual displays.
Join us this Friday at the Crown Palladium for a spectacular evening of entertainment and fundraising to support our patients and families.
