As part of Refugee Week 2019 (16-22 June) we would like to introduce you to Becca Leed Refugee Health Nurse Liaison in the Monash Refugee Health and Wellbeing team.
What brought you to Monash Health?
I have always wanted to work in Refugee Health and had heard very positive things about the Refugee Health and Well Being service at Monash and wanted to be a part of it.
What is the most rewarding part of your role?
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is raising awareness amongst other health professionals about the issues people from refugee and asylum seeker background face.
One thing about me that people probably don’t know is
One thing that people probably don’t know about me is that I spent a year travelling through the Middle East and Africa and trekked with Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda.
Refugee Week is an annual activity aiming to raise awareness about refugee issues, and celebrate the valuable contribution refugees make to Australian society. #WithRefugees is the continuing theme for Refugee Week 2019. This theme seeks to raise awareness and understanding of the refugee journey and to celebrate the positive contribution that refugees make to Australian society.
