DonateLife Week 28 July – 4 August

What if one simple decision you made could transform the lives of 10 or more people?

A record 554 Australians became deceased organ donors in 2018, which meant 1,782 Australians received a life-saving transplant in 2018. However, many Australians are still waiting for their chance for a new start.

DonateLife Week runs from Sunday 28 July – Sunday 4 Aug and we are encouraging people to talk about organ and tissue donation with their families and register their wish.

Donation is a precious and rare opportunity – only 1 per cent of deaths in hospitals occur in specific circumstances where organ donation is possible. Conditions for tissue donation are less limited, as tissues can be donated within 12-24 hours after death, regardless of where death occurs.

Find out about organ and tissue donation, share your decision with loved ones and register on the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR) online at www.donatelife.gov.au/decide or please visit the foyer stands at Monash Medical Centre and Dandenong Hospital sites to register your wishes in person.
