Cranbourne and Dandenong now on the EMR

Today marks a significant step forward in our ‘Go-Live One’ of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), with Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre admitting all dialysis and day surgery patients onto the EMR this morning.

This means that the medical records of all inpatients across Dandenong Hospital, including Thomas St Dialysis and Hospital in the Home, and the Cranbourne Centre, are now live on the EMR.

Chief Executive, Andrew Stripp, said that today represented a significant day for Monash Health.

“Delivering the EMR to two of our sites is a major milestone in our journey to enhancing the way we deliver treatment and care.”

The successful transition to the EMR has involved training nearly 4,000 of our people, deploying, installing and testing hundreds of new devices, running over 300 engagement and familiarisation events, and consulting with our vendor partners, subject matter experts, our clinicians and consumers to improve patient care.

Andrew said that Go-Live One would not have been possible without our employees embracing this transformational change.

“The commitment and ongoing efforts of our people across the organisation, including the EMR Program Team, has been critical to delivering a program which will improve the care our consumers receive, now and into the future.”

“We wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without your willingness to collaborate, to help each other and to continue prioritising the wellbeing of our consumers.”

“Over the next few weeks we need to continue to implement this new way of working and be vigilant in our provision of service to ensure the utilisation of the EMR helps us achieve our goals.”

Super Users remain on site and are available to assist people with adopting the EMR into their workflow.  The Command Centre, led by our Chief Operating Officer Martin Keogh, continues to oversee this period of work.

Feedback and learnings from Go-Live One will be used to inform our next EMR Go-Live at Clayton, with Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital set to transition to the EMR in October.
