The Monash Health Social Work team were well represented at the 9th International Conference in Social Work in Health & Mental Health held in York, UK from the 22 to 26 July 2019.
Felicity Moon, Social Worker at Monash Medical Centre and Social Work PhD Candidate, received the award for “Best Abstract” for her presentation “Conduit, crisis interventionist or counsellor: the contribution of social workers during end of life care in hospitals.” This is a fantastic achievement at an international level!
Carol Quayle, Social Work Manager, had two abstracts for oral presentation. The first was for her involvement in a joint initiative across Monash Health, Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, Peter Mac Cancer Institute, Alfred Health and Monash University – “Researching Social Work Practice in Health and Mental Health: a co-created professional audit”.
The second was for the Health Justice Partnership led by the Social Work Department for Monash Health and InTouch Multicultural Centre against family violence. This partnership is targeted to increase access to health and justice for migrant and refugee women experiencing family violence.
Congratulations to Felicity, Carol and the Social Work Team for achieving international recognition for their work to improve the health and wellbeing of people in our community.
