Check out our revised Emergency Codes

We have updated several of our Emergency Codes to ensure Monash Health can prevent, respond to and recover from internal/external emergencies and ensure consistently safe, high quality and timely care.

Those updated are:

  • Code Red – Fire/Smoke
  • Code Yellow – Internal Emergency
  • Code Purple – Bomb Threat
  • Code Orange – Evacuation
  • Code Black – Personal Threat

The changes ensure codes reflects the latest knowledge and best practice in emergency incident response, and will be incorporated into emergency training. Check the Codes on Prompt:

Code Black Emergency
Added information for community and satellite sites; extra guidance for zone wardens, incident commanders and other staff; and instructions for conducting incident reviews and investigations.

Code Orange Emergency
Added information for community and satellite sites.
Updated the evacuation options including shelter, partial or complete evacuation, vertical or lateral evacuation, immediate evacuation, and delayed evacuation.
Updated information for zone wardens, incident commanders and other staff.
Added instructions for conducting incident reviews investigations.

Code Purple Emergency
Added information for community and satellite sites and risk assessment of suspicious packages.
Updated information for zone wardens, incident commanders and other staff.
Added instructions for conducting incident reviews and investigations.

Code Red Emergency
Added the ‘Standby’ phase.
Added information for community and satellite sites.
Added sections on education and training in fire suppression and detection systems.
Updated information for zone wardens, incident commanders and other staff.
Added instructions for conducting incident reviews and investigations.

Code Yellow Emergency
Added information for community and satellite sites.
Added sections on lift entrapment, planned code yellow and business continuity.
Updated information for zone wardens, incident commanders and other staff.
Added instructions for conducting incident reviews and investigations.
