World Osteoporosis Day

Sunday 20 October is World Osteoporosis Day. Monash Imaging Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) Service, located at MMC Clayton, offers bone density measurement and accepts referrals from GPs and specialists, both from within and outside Monash Health.

The Monash Imaging DEXA service now has two bone density scanners onsite, and are now able to accommodate bookings expediently.

Our highly experienced and caring team of DEXA technologists offer specialised expertise in measuring paediatric, immobile/wheelchair bound, and bariatric patients, and welcome your referrals.

What is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is painless, but causes bone to become weak and fragile, and puts you at a higher risk of fracturing bones. These fractures can potentially have serious life-changing consequences.

If you have concerns about your bone health, it is important to discuss this with your doctor, who may deem you of sufficient risk to be screened by having a simple bone density measurement.
