Leigh commenced as a consultant surgeon at Dandenong and District Hospital 40 years ago. He had returned from Scotland after pursuing post fellowship training in HPB surgery.
He subsequently became the head of the General Surgery unit at Dandenong for many years where he enjoyed training many of our current Monash Health surgeons.
He was the inaugural head of General Surgery at Casey Hospital and was instrumental in designing and organising surgical services at this new campus.
Leigh’s dedication to patient care, service delivery, service redesign, surgical training and clinical teaching has been outstanding. His innovation has led to many great initiatives in the care of general surgery, breast cancer and thyroid cancer patients.
