Living with Cancer Education Program for the Greek Community

Today we were joined by State Member of Parliament for Bentleigh, Nick Staikos, as we launched the Living with Cancer Education Program for the Greek Community at Moorabbin Hospital.

Monash Health has a significant number of multicultural backgrounds, and one in 10 of our cancer patients is Greek.

Today provided an opportunity for our Greek consumers to ask questions about their treatment as well as the opportunity to connect with others.

Following the success of this project, the Living with Cancer Education Program is set to be redesigned for other linguistic communities.

The Living with Cancer Education Program was developed in collaboration with the Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service and Cancer Council Victoria.

Thank you to the researchers involved, including Linda Marshall (Monash Health Chemotherapy Day Nurse Unit Manager), June Savva (Monash Health Senior Clinical Oncology and Research Dietitian), Dr Sophia Frentzas (Monash Health Oncologist), Berenice Sheridan (Monash Health Pharmacist), Sarah Ng (Monash Health Physiotherapist), Theodora Lakoumentas, Dimitrios Matheas and Antonios Pashos (Monash Health Greek Interpreters).
