Monash Health would like to congratulate former board member Naim Melham on being awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the 2020 Australia Day Honours.
Naim’s OAM recognises his years of service to the community including as a board member for Monash Health, churches and chambers of commerce as well as his term as Greater Dandenong Mayor.
Known by the Greater Dandenong community for his roles of councillor and mayor, Naim has contributed decades of his life to community work and is passionate about refugee wellbeing.
He describes the motivation behind his important work not as recognition or reward, but to make a difference in the world and repay the country that welcomed him and his family from Lebanon in 1977.
