Cultural Awareness training sessions are nearly booked out

In just over one week, 80% of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness Training sessions have been booked.

To meet the demand we have added one additional session:

Friday 8 May 2020, 08:30 – 4:30, Room A, Education Building, Kingston Centre

These are an all-day training session facilitated by AJ Williams-Tchen (Wiradjuri and Wotjobulak). Participants will learn about Aboriginal history, the impact this has on Aboriginal people today and how to work with Aboriginal clients at Monash Health. This workshop aims to increase cultural awareness levels and aligns with the six actions in National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards that focus on meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify factors that affect contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Discuss how history impacts on current Aboriginal health.
  • Discuss evidence-based practical strategies to assist in working with Aboriginal clients and families.
  • Enhance our models and theories of practice.

12th May 2020 8:30am to 4:30pm – Main Conference Room, Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre

29th May 2020 8:30am to 4:30pm – Seminar Room 1, Dandenong Hospital

These study days are open to all employees, clinicians are strongly encouraged to attend. Please speak to your manager about attending one of these all-day workshops.
