Hearing loss is more common than you think

Did you know one in six Australians are affected by hearing loss? That’s an estimated 4 million people and this is expected to rise to one in four Australians by 2050.

The prevalence of hearing loss increases with age. It affects around three in every four people aged over 70 years.

Hearing loss prevalence is increasing mainly due to long-term exposure to excessive noise and a result of an ageing population.

To promote Hearing Awareness week (2 March – 7 March) Monash Audiology at Clayton and Cranbourne are offering free staff hearing screens.

There will also be a free information session held at Cranbourne, Main Conference Room, on 2 March at 1pm.  This session will address topics such as noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus.
