Monash Health launched its Aboriginal Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in partnership with the Aboriginal community on 26 February, highlighting our commitment to meaningful change.
Some 200 employees and members of the community attended the launch event at Monash Medical Centre Clayton and enjoyed story-telling and didgeridoo playing by Ron Murray.
The RAP outlines our vision for a Monash Health community that welcomes unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians to create an environment of collaboration, respect and support.
“Monash Health is committed to creating a culturally safe environment and ensuring that everyone has equal healthcare opportunities,” said Board Chair Dipak Sanghvi. “This plan presents our reconciliation journey and our relationship with the Aboriginal community.”
“I believe this plan clearly sets out our commitment to this journey and establishes a clear path to achieving greater equality in healthcare for our Aboriginal patients.”
“We want to lead the way in ‘Closing the Gap’ between health outcomes for Aboriginal people and other Australians.”
