Grant received to promote Allied Health Assistants

Monash Health’s Allied Health WISER unit is the successful recipient of a grant by the Department of Health and Human Services to lead a three year state-wide project to promote the use of the Allied Health Assistant (AHA) workforce.

This project will develop a strategy that facilitates improved work readiness and utilisation of the AHA workforce across Victorian health, aged care and disability sectors. This will include: mapping of the existing workforce, engaging with key stakeholders to identify the key strengths and limitations of the existing AHA workforce, engaging with key stakeholders to identify future workforce directions and training pipelines, and the development of a cohesive AHA workforce strategy that promotes work readiness and enhanced capacity and capability across all sectors.

Lucy Whelan (Allied Health Assistant and Support Workforce Advisor at Monash Health) is managing the project and is supported by Kath Greer (Allied Health Project Officer) and Sharon McClean (Allied Health Assistant, Project Officer).

Further communications and engagement with Monash Health employees is expected as the project consultation phase gets underway.
