Sacred Spaces, Prayer Rooms and Chapels closed

In line with the Victorian Government’s new measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, which came in to effect at midnight on 25 March, Monash Health has closed its Sacred Spaces, Prayer Rooms and Chapels.

All places of worship across Victoria are now closed and that includes ours.

We are falling into line with the measures being taken by the government and seeking to limit all indoor gatherings and enforcing physical distancing and other appropriate measures at all our sites, including the restrictions on visiting arrangements.

Spiritual care practitioners at all sites continue to provide a service to patients and families and can be contacted via phone or a referral via the Electronic Medical Record.

The Spiritual Care Co-ordinators can be contacted during business hours:

  • Monash Medical Centre- Spiritual Care Coordinator, Emil Nevin – 9594 2332

  • Dandenong Hospital –Spiritual Care Coordinator, Ray Higgs – 9554 8330

Churches and religious organisation across the country are tackling this issue in different ways with a number of them streaming services online. Please check in with your church/faith-based organisation to see how you might be able to access spiritual support during this time and encourage your patients to do likewise.
