New arrangements as school stays at home for Term 2

Monash Health has responded to the government’s announcement on how education will operate in Victoria for Term 2.

Victorian Premier, Dan Andrews, has announced primary and secondary students will be educated from home in Term 2 with remote and flexible learning.

The government’s expectation is that schooling will be done from home where it can be. The clear message is all children who can learn at home must learn from home.

However, schools will reopen on Wednesday 15 April for children whose parents cannot work from home and vulnerable students without access to a suitable learning environment at home. This means that health sector workers who cannot work from home are able to send their children to school.

The measures are to continue physical distancing to contain the spread of COVID-19, but at the same time allow parents who are working in essential roles, such as healthcare, to continue their work.

For Monash Health employees we may be able to consider ‘working from home arrangements’ if it is practical and appropriate.

Please see the updated information on leave entitlements page the Monash Health employee COVID-19 website and consider how this may apply to your circumstances.
