WHO-endorsed research trial into COVID-19 now enrolling

In the Chief Executive update on 12 April, we informed you about a World Health Organisation endorsed research trial to investigate whether a Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine can help reduce the impact of COVID-19. This study is approved and is now enrolling Monash Health clinical employees.

Traditionally used to prevent tuberculosis, the BCG vaccine will be given to participants at the same time as influenza vaccinations.

The BRACE study invites healthcare workers to participate in the randomised trial.  The study team is set up in Seminar Rooms 1 and 2 on Level 2 at Monash Medical Centre.

For further information, visit the MCRI website. To register, visit the BRACE trial website coordinated by MCRI: www.mcri.edu.au/BRACE

If you have already received the influenza vaccine this year, you are, unfortunately, ineligible. However, there will soon be opportunities for clinical employees to participate in other studies.
