Changes to residential care visitation

We have revised our restrictions on visitors attending our residential care facilities and approved a return to our previous position of residents receiving 1 visitor per day for 1 hour between the hours of 1pm and 5pm.

These hours support meal times and physical distancing better than the hospital hours of 1-3pm and 5-7pm.

All visitors will be screened for signs of COVID-19 and have their temperatures checked. From 1 May 2020, they will also be required to have had an up-to-date flu vaccination and sign a declaration to this effect.

For patients nearing end of life (death is imminent within hours) in any part of the health-service including residential-care, our position remains unchanged – they are allowed two visitors at a time, at any time of day. Read more about visitor restrictions here.
