This week is Palliative Care Week, and the theme for 2020 is ‘Palliative Care… It’s more than you think!’
Palliative care supports the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of people with life-limiting illnesses to live as well as possible, for as long as possible. It is not just end-of-life care; it is care that helps people live their life to the fullest when living with a life-limiting or terminal illness.
National Palliative Care Week presents an opportunity to discuss the benefits of quality palliative care and highlight the work of our outstanding palliative care specialists and nurses, as well as the support provided by general practitioners, volunteers, allied health professionals, community workers and everyone who works within the palliative care sphere.
As people face the challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, our palliative care workforce continues to deliver outstanding clinical care and compassion to their patients.
