After 140 days at MCH, baby Willow goes home

In March this year, bride-to-be Christy was rushed to the hospital due to pregnancy complicationsThe story made news headlines when our maternal fetal medicine team sprung into wedding planning mode, helping Christy and fiancé Brendan coordinate a wedding in the chapel at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton.

Two days after the wedding, baby girl Willow made an early arrival at just 24 weeks and weighing only 600grams.

Christy and Brendan spent every day of their first few months of marriage at Monash Children’s Hospital visiting Willow. Last week after two surgeries and 140 days in hospital, Willow was finally able to go home.

“I couldn’t possibly express how much I appreciate what they have done,” said dad Brendan.

In a week where a lot of the medical news was challenging, their story provided a bright spot.
