Single-Employer – Residential Aged Care

The Victorian Government has introduced a ‘single employer’ model for employees who work across multiple residential aged care facilities. All employees who work any shifts within any aged care facility managed by Monash Health or another provider will be required to be based at and work at a single facility as their primary workplace.

The elected primary workplace is the site at which the employee will work all their shifts. We understand that this may affect the number of shifts available to an employee and Monash Health will support impacted employees throughout this process. It is our intention that you will not be disadvantaged by the new workplace model.

This is a temporary but critical measure that aims to control and contain the transmission of COVID-19 between residential aged care facilities by employees working across multiple sites and providers. This measure will also diminish the risk of transmission from aged care facilities into Monash Health sites.

Given the current circumstances of community transmission and the effects of COVID-19 on our elder and most vulnerable care recipients, we know you will understand why this measure is unavoidable and appreciate your support.

Please discuss these changes with your manager and refer to the frequently asked questions on the new Employee Page of the Coronavirus site for single-employer residential aged care information.
