The Ward 44 team at Monash Medical Centre was thrilled to open its newly-renovated patient and relative room thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Dry July Foundation.
In July 2019, 12 team members participated in the Dry July challenge to raise money for haematology related cancer patients. Following a fantastic fundraising effort, the team were successful with a grant application to the Dry July Foundation.
The funds meant they could create a beautiful space for haematology cancer patients and their families to spend time , improving their time in hospital and overall wellbeing.
The ward 44 team also took part in this year’s Dry July, raising additional funds for haematology related cancers.
Ward 44 Nurse Manager Nerine Wilson said, “I’m incredibly proud of the work and fundraising done by the team to help provide our patients with an excellent experience. While COVID-19 restrictions mean we could not celebrate the opening of the room the way we had planned, nor can our patient and their families currently access it, we look forward to this space being used by patients and their families in the future.”
