Every year, on 8 September, we celebrate the important and trusted role physiotherapists play in improving the health of their patients. Given the current circumstances, this year the day focuses on rehabilitation after COVID-19 and the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in helping patients throughout the recovery process.
With their broad ranging skills, physiotherapists have a multitude of roles across Monash Health. This ranges from working in the frontline in our Emergency Departments and critical care areas to restorative roles within our wards, sub-acute and community areas. Each role plays a part in assisting recovery from COVID-19.
Whether it be patients who need acute assistance with breathing, help to regain their mobility or intense therapy to regain their strength and function after serious illness or injury, we consistently see the vital work of our physiotherapists in the recovery process.
World Physiotherapy Day is a great opportunity to reflect on the crucial contribution our physiotherapists make to help improve the health, mobility and independence of our patients. Happy World Physiotherapy Day!
