The Safety Café is a consultation initiative that provides an opportunity for Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to be kept up-to-date with the latest developments in OHS. The next Safety Café will be held on Friday 30 October.
The bi-monthly event is hosted by our OHS advisors, with agenda items being determined by current developments and HSR interest/feedback.
At our most recent Café, we discussed the topics of Consultation and Workplace Inspections. The next event will focus on:
- How to Investigate an Incident – presented by Lauren Jonas; and
- A Day in the Life of a HSR – presented by Sharon Bailey
The Safety Café forms part of our commitment to actively involve HSRs and employees in their health, safety and wellbeing; a key objective of the OHS Strategy 2018-2023. With the support of managers, we are confident the Safety Cafés will result in increased consultation and an improved HSR knowledge base.

HSR training continues to be available online
The COVID-19 situation has changed the way we work and the way we educate our HSRs. We adapted to the situation by working with our training provider to facilitate online training.
Feedback regarding the online training has been extremely positive. If you are a new HSR, or are in need of refresher training, we encourage you to visit the safety intranet to view available course dates and enrolment information for 2020/2021.
Availability for the remainder of 2020 is limited, so get in quick.
