Monash Health’s number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our employees and the people we care for. To achieve this, we continue to look at ways in which we can enhance Monash Health’s systems and practices to make our work environment as safe as possible.
To further protect your health and safety, we will be implementing the Monash Health Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) over the coming months.
The RPP will introduce fit testing, a process that tests and selects the best–fitting respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for you. Using specialised fit-testing equipment known as PortaCount Plus machines, fit testing measures the effectiveness of the RPE’s seal on the unique shape of your face.
There are many different face shapes, and when it comes to RPE one size does not fit all. The better the fit and seal of your RPE, the more protected you are from any hazardous respiratory agents.
It is important to remember that, the use of RPE is the last line of defence against respiratory hazards
We have appointed a Program Administrator, Christina Campbell, ordered PortaCount Plus (fit-testing) machines and commenced the recruitment process to build a team who can undertake the testing.
We look forward to commencing fit testing as soon as we can, with more details on timings and what you need to know to follow soon.
