One Monash Health doctor’s journey to the US during COVID-19

Last year, Dr Sarah Arachchi found herself confronted with a daunting prospect: moving her young family to the United States as the COVID-19 pandemic heightened.

General paediatrician at Monash Children’s Hospital, Dr Arachchi knew she was faced with a great challenge and tough decision when her husband secured a place as an inflammatory bowel disease fellow at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.

Dr Arachchi detailed her journey relocating to the US for the ABC, from the empty airports, to forming new friendships during a pandemic, and how the political unrest was a shock to her system.

You can read more about her journey on the ABC News website.
