As the Monash Health vaccination program continues, we know many of you are wondering what to expect and how you might feel after receiving the vaccine.
That’s why we checked in to see how some of our Day One employees vaccinated at Monash Health felt one day after receiving their first dose of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.
“I was so happy to receive the vaccination yesterday. I had a pretty sore left arm and felt a bit tired last night; however, I still felt good enough to come into work today, and now I am more or less back to normal. Overall a really exciting experience and definitely nothing to worry about.” – Dr Sumitha Bhaskaran, Head of General Medicine
“Still feeling very positive and excited. My arm is a bit sore but not heavy. Flu vac is usually worse for me from a local pain perspective.” – Dr Brendan Murfin, Specialist, ICU
“My arm is feeling fine, mild ache last night, and that is it.” – Professor Rhonda Stuart, Head of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology
“I’m all good; my arm was sore when I went to bed last night, but today much better and no other effects whatsoever,” – Dr Stuart Wilson, Director ICU
“So much better than flu or tetanus shot – not even noticeable.” – Rachel Hogben, Nurse Manager, ICU
“I was saying to my manager yesterday that I feel fantastic. I kept going with my daily routine like nothing happened. I had my friends ringing me to see that I was okay because people want to know. If they can talk to you when you’ve physically done it, that’s what it’s all about and it’s been fantastic.” – Guylene Faustin, Patient Services Assistant
“Mild aching arm last night, better today, I just have an overwhelming feeling of optimism.” – Dr Rachel Rosler, Director, Emergency Medicine
It’s pleasing to see the vaccination program is off to such a great start. We look forward to providing updates from our teams as they progress to the vaccine’s all-important second dose and beyond.
In the meantime, you can always check-in and stay informed about the vaccines, what to expect and the program here.
