Chief Executive COVID-19 Update: 19 April

Message from the Chief Executive

In this update, we cover:

  • Expanding our Dandenong and Clayton clinic bookings to all employees under 50
  • The continuation of our flu vaccination program

Over the weekend, the Victorian Government announced that three high volume vaccination centres across Melbourne City and Geelong will be opening to the public on Wednesday for people in Phase 1A and 1B and those over 70 years of age. There will be further updates as we await advice from National Cabinet and plan our role in vaccinating our community.

I encourage you to book in as a priority before we open appointments more widely to the community.

  • Call the Employee Vaccination Booking Line on 8572 2156. The booking line is open 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 4pm at weekends.
  • The quieter times to call are 11.30am to 2:00pm.

Over the weekend, we passed the staggering and sobering milestone of over three million deaths worldwide from COVID-19.

This week, as we expand travel bubbles and the intake via hotel quarantine, we want to be well prepared and protected against future risks.

That’s why our priority remains to vaccinate as many people as soon as possible, particularly those most at risk of coming in contact with COVID-19 and those most vulnerable to severe disease or death. As Professor Rhonda Stuart confirmed last week, we have made excellent progress with vaccination, with 71 per cent of our employees receiving their first dose of vaccine and 46 per cent now fully vaccinated.

Our 1A group is at 81 per cent vaccinated, which is excellent progress, and we look forward to seeing these numbers continue to rise to protect you and those you care for.

We have capacity at all of our sites for vaccination, so no matter which group you fall into, you can find booking details here, and inform yourself of the risks and benefits by reviewing material at our vaccination hub.

Flu vaccination continues this week

Our free flu vaccination program started last week and continues today at Kingston and Monash Medical Centre Clayton. We remain keen for everyone to either be vaccinated against the flu or declare if you’ve been vaccinated elsewhere or do not wish to be vaccinated. Visit the intranet to read more about where to get your free flu vaccine.

Remember, you need to leave two weeks between a COVID-19 vaccination and a flu vaccination.

Thank you for stepping up in the fight against COVID-19 and for your dedication to protecting our community and each other.

Andrew Stripp
Chief Executive
